Stony Brook Track and Field competes at Bison Outdoor Classic and Metropolitan Championships

Piscataway, N.J. –The Stony Brook track and field team competed at the Metropolitan Championships on the campus of Rutgers, along with the Bison Outdoor Classic.
 
At the Metropolitan Championships the men's team placed fourth overall out of twelve with 78 total points.  Rutgers scored 209, Manhattan 199, Fordham 99, Wagner 72, New Jersey Institute 65, St. Peter's 38, LIU Brooklyn 17, Columbia 17, Iona 10, St. Francis 7, and LIU Post 4. 
 
The women's team came in fifth over all with 88 total points coming in behind Rutgers (190), St. John's (162), Manhattan (120), and Fordham (101.50). Wagner placed sixth (53), New Jersey Institute (37), Columbia (24), St. Peter's (22), LIU Post (19), St. Francis (16.50), and LIU Brooklyn (6).
 
A small group of athletes traveled to the Bison Outdoor Classic. Kevin Vinolas placed second in the men's 3000m run with a time of 8:36.33. The Seawolves had two top five finishers in the women's 3000m run. Alexandria Ortega placed third with a time of 9:57.31 and Talia Guevara came in fourth with a time of 10:08.16
 
Highlights  
  • Junior Kaylyn Gordon won the women's triple jump marking 12.27m.  
  • Freshman Kyle Kelly won the men's 1500m run with a time of 3:56.37.
  • Sophomore Shane Harris placed second in the men's 100m dash with a time of 11.04. Harris also finished second in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.40.
  • The quartet of Yanik Martin, Wayne Williams, Ahmed Galal, and Shane Harris placed third in the men's 4x100m relay with a time of 42.43
  • The Seawolves had two top five finishers in the men's 400m hurdles. Freshman Spencer Payton came in third with a time of 55.99 and freshman Christopher Quilla placed fourth with a time of 56.19
  • Freshman Alyssa Oviasogie took third in the women's heptathlon totaling 3856 points.   
  • Sophomore Wayne Williams placed third in the men's 400m dash with a time of 48.84
  • The quartet of Mary Chimezie, Shanee Grant, Dara Smith, and Melissa Riback came in third in the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:58.93
  • Sophomore Rachel Hatcher came in third in the women's hammer throw marking 42.39m
  • Sophomore Joseph Stanco finished third in the men's shot put marking 14.13m
  • Stony Brook had two top five finishers in the women's long jump. Freshman Taylor Jubilee placed third marking 5.63m. Junior Kaylyn Gordon finished fifth marking 5.59. 
  • The quartet of Chinque Thompson, Nikki Fogarty, Sarah Militano, and Kaylyn Gordon came in fourth in the women's 4x100m relay with a time of 47.38
  • Sophomore Nikki Fogarty placed fourth in the women's 100m hurdles with a tme of 14.73.  
  • The Seawolves had three top seven finishers in the women's 100m dash. Sophomore Chinque Thompson came in fourth (12.15), sophomore Sarah Militan placed fifth (12.52), and junior Kaylyn Gordon finished seventh (12.61).
  • Freshman Vann Moffett finished fifth in the men's 1500m run with a time of 4:01.19
  • Chinque Thompson placed fifth in the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.39
  • Freshman Mary Chimezie came in fifth in the women's 400m dash with a time of 58.49
  • Senior Alex Lopresti finished fifth in the men's 800m dash with a time of 1:54.63   
  • The quartet of Sean Ideozu, Raymond Gorzela, Kevon White, and Randy Maldon palced fifth in the men's 4x400m relay.
  • Junior Dara Smith came in fifth in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.06
  • Greg Mangarelli finished sixth in the men's 5000m run with a time of 15:21.65
  • Freshman Cameryn Miller placed sixth in the women's heptathlon while Paige Clark came in seventh.  
  • Sophomore Lauren Glancy placed seventh in the women's long jump marking 5.47m
  • Freshman Khadim Ndoye came in seventh in the men's long jump marking 6.87m   
  • Sophomore Jane Clark placed seventh in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:16.92
  • Sophomore Jason Marshall placed seventh in the men's high jump marking 1.77m
  • Freshman Christopher Quilla finished eighth in the men's 110 hurdles with a time of 15.67 
  • Sophomore Kevon White came in eighth in the men's 400m dash with a time of 50.22
  • Rachel Hatcher placed eighth in the women's discus throw marking 36.46. 
  • Taylor Jubilee came in seventh in the women's triple jump (11.11m) and Lauren Glancy placed eighth (11.08m)
