Stony Brook, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's tennis team will travel to Normal, Ill. for their first Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
Illinois State, the three seed, will host the tournament. The Seawolves are coming into the tournament 6-10 on the year.
The Seawolves, the eighth seed, will face of will number nine Northern Iowa on Friday, April 28
th at 9:00 a.m.
Junior
Elizabeth Tsvetkov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is 9-4 at the No.1 singles position.
Junior
Yana Nikolaeva (Thornhill, Ontario) posted a 7-8 record at either the No.2 or No.3 singles position.
Tsvetkov and Nikolaeva have a 4-2 record at the No.1 doubles position.
Sophomore
Ester Chikvashvili (Meliville, N.Y.) and senior
Nadia Smergut (New York, N.Y.) also have four doubles wins posting a 4-1 record as the No.2 doubles teams.
"Both squads are very excited to compete in the MVC Championship this weekend. This is what we've been training for since the end of August. It should be a great tournament and we're looking forward to the first round tomorrow," said head coach
