RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – The Stony Brook softball team finished the first of three days at the Highlander Classic with a 1-1 record. In their first game of the day, the Seawolves topped Saint Mary's 7-2, but fell in the second game, to Brown 10-2 at Amy S. Harrison Field on Friday afternoon.

Game 1: Stony Brook 7, Saint Mary's 2
- The Seawolves got on the board first in the second inning. Taylor Pechin (Harrington, Del.) and Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) got things started with back to back singles. Pechin scored after Caroline Seeberg (Warwick, N.Y.) was hit by a pitch. McCarvill then scored on a sacrifice fly to left field by Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.). Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) then doubled to left field scoring Allyssa Malony (Runnemede, N.J.) and Seeberg.
- Saint Mary's responded in the bottom of the third inning scoring two runs off of two hits and two Stony Brook errors.
- The Seawolves added two more runs in the top of the fifth when Pechin homered to right field scoring Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.).
- Stony Brook added one more in the top of the seventh inning after Ileana Torres singled up the middle and then scored on a single by Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.).
Game 2: Brown 10, Stony Brook 2
- Brown got off to a quick start stringing together consecutive singles before scoring with two outs on back to back hits and taking the lead 3-0 in the first inning.
- Stony Brook tacked on one run in the bottom of the second when Katelyn Corr walked with bases loaded scoring sophomore, Riley Craig (Thornton, Colo.).
- The Bears added on three runs in the top of the fourth and one more in the top of the fifth to lead 7-1.
- The Seawolves tried to fight back in the bottom of the sixth when Allyssa Malony doubled to right field and scored on a single by Hering.

The Seawolves remain at Riverside for two more games on Saturday, March 3rd. They will take on Brown at 2:30 p.m., before facing UC Riverside at 5:00 p.m.
