WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Redshirt senior Courtney Murphy (Shirley, N.Y.) broke the NCAA Division I record for career goals on Thursday night at Al-Marzook Field, helping lead No. 1 Stony Brook past Hartford, 21-3, in conference action.
 
17 total Seawolves scored in the contest, as No. 1 Stony Brook improves to 11-0 (3-0 AE) so far in 2018.

"Tonight was our third-straight game playing our entire roster, so that's important. Overall, I think this game checks a lot of boxes for us, so I'm happy with the result. We've done a really good job of bringing a certain level of focus to each game, and I'd expect the same on Saturday [at Binghamton].
 
On Courtney Murphy: "When you look at her journey… One of the biggest things we talked about when she decided to come back for one more season was having the ability to write her own ending. She's done a really good job of doing that so far, and one of those checkpoints for her was getting this record. She's one of the best pure goal scorers I've ever seen, and I couldn't be happier for her."
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• Courtney Murphy led the way with five goals and two assists for seven total points, becoming the NCAA's all-time leading goal scorer. Murphy now has 292 career goals in 77 career games.
• Kylie Ohlmiller (Islip, N.Y.) added seven points of her own, scoring twice to go along with five assists.
• Taryn Ohlmiller (Islip, N.Y.) chipped in with five points (two goals, three assists), and Ally Kennedy (North Babylon, N.Y.) recorded three points (two goals, one assist).
• Emma Schait (Seaford, N.Y.) and Erica Shea (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) both added a goal and an assist.
• Keri McCarthy (Hauppauge, N.Y.) led the Seawolves with nine more draw controls, also chipping in with three ground balls.
• Anna Tesoriero (Huntington, N.Y.) and Jessica Goralski (Moorestown, N.J.) combined to make three saves, allowing just three total goals.

NOTES

• With seven more points, Kylie Ohlmiller is now just 30 total points away from breaking the NCAA Division I career record in total points scored. The senior captain is also just 18 assists away from the NCAA Division I career record now.
• The Seawolves outshot Hartford 31-7 in total, and won 16 of 25 draw controls. Stony Brook picked up 26 ground balls, a season high.
• With the win, Stony Brook remains one of only two undefeated Division I teams.
