VESTAL, N.Y. -- The Stony Brook softball team took down Maine in their third game of the America East Tournament. Shortly after the Seawolves fell to Albany and were eliminated from the tournament.

"It's tough to see the season end but we fought hard to extend it today. We played a terrific game against Maine in terms fo pitching, defense and execution.We started off well vs Albany but they got their bats going and that was the difference. We were a much improved team this year and look forward to what lies ahead," said head coach

Game 1: Stony Brook 2, Maine 0
- After five scoreless innings Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) got the Seawolves going with a double to center field. Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) followed with an infield single and loaded the bases. After a 14 pitch Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) drew a walk and scoring Hering.
- Stony Brook added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth after Nicole McCarvill (Clifton Park, N.Y.) doubled down the left field line and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt. McCarvill would score on a pinch hit sacrifice fly by Allyssa Malony (Runnemede, N.J.).
Game 2: Albany 9, Stony Brook 0
- After three scoreless innings of play the Great Danes got on the board scoring one run on one hit.
- Albany extended their lead in the bottom of the fourth scoring two runs on three hits. And would tack on three more runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning the Great Danes added on to their lead scoring three runs on three hits and would end the game.
- Melissa Rahrich went seven for ten in the conference tournament with three RBIs.
