STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook softball team hosted Maine in their final conference series on Friday, May 4
th. The Seawolves took game one but fell in game two.
Game 1: Stony Brook 7, Maine 1
- Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) got the Seawolves going in the bottom of the first by doubling down the left field line. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and then scored on when Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) doubled to left field.
- Stony Brook added to their lead in the second inning after Ileana Torres (Debary, Fla.) reached on an error then advanced to third on a ground out. Torres then scored on Chelsea Evans (Merced, Calif.) single up the middle to make the score 2-0.
- Rivera picked up her second hit of the game with a single up the middle to get the Seawolves going in the bottom of the third. Rivera later scored on a Maine error to make the lead 3-0.
- Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) and Rahrich had back to back singles in the bottom of the fourth inning. Rivera then sent one over the right field fence to extend Stony Brook's lead to 6-0.
- Maine would get on the board in the top of the sixth scoring one run on two hits.
- Stony Brook would answer in the bottom of the sixth scoring one run on two hits to lead Maine 7-1.
Game 2: Maine 4, Stony Brook 1
- Rahrich got the Seawolves going with a lead-off walk. Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) followed with a single to left center advancing to third. Rahrich would later score on a wild pitch.
- After four quick innings on both ends. Maine took the lead scoring four runs on three hits.
- Katelyn Corr was three for three for the Seawolves.
