ITHACA, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's lacrosse head coach
Joe Spallina earned his 200th-career win as a head coach on Saturday afternoon as Stony Brook dominated Cornell, 14-2, at Schoellkopf Field.
Â
The victory marked his 127th with the Seawolves as he notched 73 prior at the helm of the Adelphi women's lacrosse program.Â
QUOTING HEAD COACHÂ Joe Spallina
On the milestone: "It's a pretty cool milestone. It's obviously a tribute to being able to coach so many awesome women here in my time here at Stony Brook for the majority of the wins and then also some great years at Adelphi. You think back to all of the great captains and leaders and especially my coaches with the recruiting and stuff like that to just bring a special group of kids in where we've been able to be really successful at Stony Brook. It's special. I think it's a testament to the program more so than myself and I'm proud of our kids."
On the win: "I'm really proud of our team today. We came out and jumped on Cornell and didn't let up. Best part of my job is to watch players develop and play in games with confidence and poise. The best days are ahead for this group and I am fortunate to lead them. We get a full week of practice next week which I am excited about before facing a great Florida team at home next Saturday."
