WEST HARTFORD, CONN.- The Stony Brook softball team fell to UMBC in the America East Championship game on Saturday, May 11. The Retrievers defeated the Seawolves by a score of 4-0. With the loss, the Seawolves end the 2019 season with a 32-19 record.
Melissa Rahrich (Brighton, Colo.) had a solid performance in the circle, only giving up one earned run. The junior went all seven innings, striking out five.

"This was a tough day for us and not the way we wanted the tournament to end. We had a great run this week and a terrific season overall. We have a lot to be proud of, and a lot to look forward to."
SCORING SUMMARY
- The Retrievers got on the board in the top of the first after a leadoff single came around to score on a RBI groundout making it 1-0.
- The Seawolves threatened in the bottom of the first after Jourdin Hering (Federal Way, Wash.) singled and Katelyn Corr (Suffield, Conn.) walked, but they were stranded by UMBC's pitcher Courtney Coppersmith.
- UMBC scored two unearned runs in the top of the third after an error at second base extended the inning.
- The Retrievers scored their final run of the day in the top of the fourth after a batter reached on a fielder's choice and came around to score on a RBI triple making it 4-0.
NOTES
- Rahrich, Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) and Corr were named to the America East All-Championship Team.
- Rahrich finished the season with a 19-13 record in the circle with a 2.09 ERA, which are both career bests.
- Rahrich's 19 wins in the season is ranked seventh in the program record book. The junior is also eighth in the record book in single season innings pitched (207.2), strikeouts (153), sixth in shutouts (7), and fourth in complete games (28).
- Rahrich is also ranked fourth in single season batting average (.418), third in hits (69), first in RBIs (60), and second in home runs (17).
- Corr is ranked ninth in the record book finishing the season with a .379 batting average. The senior is also tied for fourth in single season doubles (14), and is first in runs scored (57).
- Corr also finished her four years at Stony Brook 10th in the record book in career runs scored (101).
- Rivera finished tied for fourth in the record book in single season doubles (14), and tied for sixth in single season RBIs (46).
- Rivera also finished fourth in career RBIs (141) and seventh in career home runs (26).
