STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The book on the 2020 athletic year has officially been closed with the culmination of the third and final day of the Wolfie Awards, presented on Facebook this season.
The Wolfies, the annual celebration for the Seawolves' student-athletes, went virtual this year and the three-night event kicked off on Monday night.
After one last look at the red carpet, the awards started with the Comeback Athlete of the Year. Presented by America East Women's Basketball Coach of the Year
Caroline McCombs, the accolade is selected by the athletic department and goes to an athlete that's faced adversity in their athletic and academic careers, and has grown stronger because of it. The athlete demonstrates perseverance and a positive attitude each day with their teammates, coaches, and support staff on and off the field.
This year's winner was women's basketball forward
Cheyenne Clark.
One more look at the best moments from the 2019-20 athletic year, that was shortened in length but not shortened on excitement and success, with three more America East titles coming to Long Island via men's cross country, women's soccer and women's basketball.
The final awards of the night were given after Director of Athletics
Shawn Heilbron gave his remarks on the campaign, with the male and female Athletics Director Award. This award is selected by Heilbron for the student-athletes' embodiment of Stony Brook Athletics' ideals and core values.
This season's selections were seniors
Sam Kamara of the football team and
Ally Kennedy of the women's lacrosse team.
The show rounded out as it always does, with the highlights from all 16 sports during their seasons. Be sure to watch the full video by clicking the video above and stay tuned to StonyBrookAthletics.com and all of its social media channels for inside looks and content from all Seawolves programs.
