STONY BROOK, N.Y. — During challenging times, Stony Brook student-athletes have continued to thrive in the classroom.
Seawolves student-athletes produced a collective 3.30 GPA during the fall semester — a strong performance amid a hybrid learning environment.
The women's tennis program led the way with a cumulative 3.72 for the fall. It was closely followed by the women's soccer team at 3.68 and the softball team at 3.65.
The softball mark set the program record for any semester, according to coach
Megan T. Bryant.
Other standout performances included volleyball (3.54), women's track and field/cross country (3.49), women's lacrosse (3.45), swimming and diving (3.40), men's track and field/cross country (3.29), men's lacrosse (3.23), women's basketball (3.20), men's soccer (3.12), football (3.08) and baseball (3.07).
"I continue to marvel at the strength and persistence of our student-athletes in the classroom," senior associate athletic director
Courtney Rickard said. "This fall was challenging in so many ways, but our student-athletes all embodied the core of true scholar-athletes and achieved great results academically.
"I also must mention the hard work and dedication of our amazing academic advisors and academic success coaches. This team of professionals in the Goldstein Family Student-Athlete Development Center continues to foster an environment in which students can truly balance academics, athletics and their hopes and dreams for after graduation."
