Mia Sclar Breaks Female 1-Meter Dive Program Record to Headline Win Over Siena

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's swimming and diving team added another win to their 2021-22 campaign on Saturday against Siena. With the 133-108 defeat over Siena, the Seawolves improve to 2-1 on the season.

Redshirt junior Mia Sclar set a new female 1-meter dive program record with her score of 302.175. Mia destroyed the previous 19-year old program record of 269.10 that was set by Erin Byrnes in 2002. Sophomore Mary Kate Conway secured a pair of individual wins in 100 and 200 free.
 
Three Seawolves a part of the 1st place 400 medley relay also placed first in individual events. Sophomore Briana Liew was victorious in the 200 IM, sophomore Lara Youssef won the 100 fly, and junior Reagan MacDonald took first in the 100 back.
   
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Stony Brook started the meet off with a bang as it won the 400 medley relay to get the action going. The relay team comprised of MacDonald, Liew, Youseff, and freshman Brenna McLaughlin recorded a final time of 4:01.27 to pick up the win.
  • Conway secured the only pair of individual wins for the Seawolves. She claimed first-place in the 100 and 200 free, touching the wall in 53.14 and 1:56.46 respectively. Mary Kate set new season personal bests in both events.
  • Liew was victorious in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.75, in addition to the 400 medley relay win.
  • Youssef picked up a first-place finish in the 100 fly with her time of 58.99, crushing her previous season personal best of 59.62.
  • MacDonald rounded out the victorious 400 medley squad by touching the wall in 59.57 to take first in the 100 back.
  • Senior Jess Salmon finished off the day strong for the Seawolves by claiming a victory in the 100 breast with her time of 1:07.32, beating her previous season best of 1:07.49 against St. Francis Brooklyn.
NEXT UP
The Stony Brook women's swimming and diving team is back in action on December 3 at 7 p.m. when they travel to New Britain, Connecticut to compete in the Blue Devil Invite.
