PRINCETON, N.J. – The Stony Brook tennis team returned to the court this past weekend, Sep. 30 - Oct. 2, at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional in Princeton, N.J.
Leading the way for the squad in singles play was freshman
Kristi Boro, graduate
Loreto Villalba-Rubio, and senior
Kristine Theys. Boro and L. Rubio would take their first matches of the weekend in straight sets. After falling in the first set, Theys stormed back to defeat Emilie Haakansson from St. John's, 2-6, 6-3,1-0
[6].
The Seawolves collected a pair of wins in doubles at the ITA Regional, as the duo of Boro/
Mathilde Sreeves and L. Rubio/Theys dominated in the round of 64 against St. Francis Brooklyn and Army.
Following the Boro and Sreeves defeat over the Terrier tandem, they pushed Isabella Brilliant and Maria Drobotova from Army to the final point, but ultimately fell, 8-7
[7]. Villalba-Rubio and Theys went on to fall in the round of 32, as the veterans fell 8-5 against Juliana Munhoz and Maya Urata from the University of Pennsylvania.
