Tennis Closes Home Slate with Win over Queens College

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook tennis team earned a win in its final home match on Friday afternoon, knocking off perennial DII power Queens College at the University Courts.

Kristine Theys, Chandrika Joshi and Carmen Victoria Villalba Rubio earned a pair of wins on the day, with Theys and Joshi combining for a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles before taking straight set victories in their respective singles matches.

Rubio earned a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, paired with Sara Medved, before she earned a three-set victory in singles play.

Loreto Villalba Rubio earned a singles win as well, finishing 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 slot.

UP NEXT
The Seawolves head to Queens on Saturday afternoon, wrapping up its regular season at the USTA National Tennis Center against St. John's.
