WEEK 5 SPRING REPORT

Stony Brook Football Spring Notebook - Week 5

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – As the calendar is nearly set to turn to the month of May, the Stony Brook football program wraps up a successful Spring season. The Seawolves participated in a full Spring slate for the first time since 2019, and they took the necessary steps forward over the past five weeks as a program in preparation for the 2022 season.

This past Saturday, the Seawolves played an offense-defense based intrasquad scrimmage that featured the offense picking up a 38-9 victory. The offense earned points in the traditional fashion, while a scoring system was in place that allowed the defense to earn points outside of scoring a touchdown or a safety. The defense also received points for the following: a stop prior to the offense crossing the 50-yard line was worth two points, a stop after the offense crossed the 50-yard line was worth one point, three and outs were two points, and turnovers were four points.

On Wednesday, May 4, the Seawolves are hosting a Bone Marrow drive at East Side Dining and at the Academic Mall. We hope you can stop by sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., swab your cheek, and become part of the national bone marrow registry.

Stony Brook returned to the field for a morning of practice on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the team was back in the community as several student-athletes volunteered at a local elementary school. Members of the team read books and participated in school yard games with the students.

The Seawolves were in for a treat on Thursday. At the team’s morning meeting, Coach Priore surprised them by cancelling practice and informed them, that they would be making a trip to Topgolf. The guys tested their golf skills, some for the very first time, as they had a great team bonding experience.
