Singles Effort Powers Tennis to Battle of Long Island Victory

OCEANSIDE, N.Y. — The Stony Brook tennis team won five of its six matches in singles, leading to a 5-2 victory over Long Island rivals Hofstra on Wednesday afternoon in Oceanside, N.Y.

Led by Mathilde Sreeves from the No. 1 slot, the Seawolves won the top four brackets to start off the day, setting the tone for a complete victory.

Streeves, Kristine Theys, Loreto Vilallba Rubio and Chandrika Joshi all took their victories in straight sets, with only Sreeves and Theys needing a seventh game to win either set. Sara Medved brought home the No. 6 singles matchup, climbing back from a set down to win the point.

Theys and Joshi teamed up to take home a No. 2 doubles victory, 6-2.
