Men's Track and Field Competes at Friar Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Six Seawolves competed at the Friar Invitational, hosted by Providence College, on Friday evening.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Carlos Santos placed second in the 3,000-meter with a time of 8:17.47. He was followed closely by classmate Shane Henderson, who finished in third after crossing at 8:19.47.
  • Collin Gilstrap raced to a fifth-place finish in the mile. Gilstrap posted a 4:03.27 mark in the mile, with his fastest split coming in at under a minute (59.18).
  • Michael Hawkes also ran the 3,000-meter, finishing eighth with a time of 8:29.62.
  • Henry Gartner (10th, 3,000m) and Mahmoud Abdalla (21st, 800m) rounded out Stony Brook's competitors at the Friar Invitational.
NEXT UP
The Seawolves are slated to compete at both the Virginia Challenge, hosted by the University of Virginia, and the Mark Young Invitational, hosted by Yale. The Virginia Challenge begins on Friday, April 19 and concludes the following day. The Mark Young Invitational is a one-day event hosted on Saturday, April 20 in New Haven, Connecticut.
