The SUNY Spring Scholar Athlete Awards recognizes 28 student-athletes from SUNY colleges and universities sponsoring intercollegiate athletics at the four- and two-year levels who were nominated and voted upon by representatives of their respective institutions.
The SUNY Scholar Athlete Awards recognize outstanding academic and athletic success in 29 different sports and are presented three times a year to coincide with the specific sports contested in the fall, winter and spring seasons. The Scholar Athletes of the Year in each sport will then be nominated for an overall Scholar Athlete of the Year for men's sports and women's sports in each category that will be announced in mid-July.
Gilstrap capped an outstanding spring season by qualifying for and competing in the 1,500-meter in the NCAA First Round. He delivered three first-place finishes during the outdoor season and defended his CAA title in the 1,500m. He also broke the program record in the 1,500m at the Wake Forest Invitational and earned CAA Co-Track Athlete of the Week honors during the season. Inside the classroom, Gilstrap earned a 3.27 grade point average, majoring in health science.

Individually, Hines earned CAA and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year honors while being named to the All-CAA First Team and the Tewaaraton Watch List. She shattered multiple records in 2024, including the program's single-game (8), single-season (74), and career (142) caused turnover marks.
