STONY BROOK, N.Y — The Class of 2026 Stony Brook tennis program has officially announced the addition of Yasmin Vavrova to the program's signing class of 2026.
"Yasmin brings incredible international match experience, strong values, and high personal goals," said head coach Thiago Dualiby. "She embodies the type of high-character student-athlete we strive to recruit—someone who loves to compete, cares for her teammates, and helps create an environment where everyone can challenge themselves and push each other to be their best.
I am thrilled to welcome her to our program this August. Go Seawolves!"
Yasmin Vavrova, a native of Solovika, Slovakia, has signed her National Letter of Intent and will enroll at Stony Brook and begin competing for the program in the 2026-27 athletic year.
Vavrova brings an impressive resume of national and international success to Stony Brook. Over the course of her career, she has been a member of the Slovakian National Team at the U14 and U16 levels. She has claimed J100 and J60 singles titles, two J60 doubles championships, and has reached the quarterfinals at both J200 and J300 events. She has also competed in the qualifying rounds of Wimbledon and the US Open. Vavrova reached a career-high ITF junior ranking of 150 in January 2025.
She has been training with her coach Suzie for the past eight years, traveling extensively for competition, and is based in Bratislava, Slovakia, her hometown.
In addition to her accomplishments on the court, Vavrova excels academically. She currently attends Mercury Private Bilingual High School, where all subjects are taught in both Slovak and English. She holds a 4.0 GPA and placed in the top 6% of all students nationally in her Maturita examination for Slovak Language and Literature.
Outside of academics and tennis, Vavrova is also a vocalist for her school band, performing annually at various school-organized events.
