BETHLEHEM, Pa. — In the largest race of the season so far, the Seawolves finished sixth out of 35 teams today in the 8K in the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University on Friday. Stony Brook finished with 227 points, right behind Penn in fifth with 222 and ahead of Army in seventh with 243.
Leading the way for the men was
Ethan Green who set a new career best in the 8K with a time of 24:17.1 to take 11th place.
Also in the top 25 today was
Henry Gartner, running a 24:35.4 to take 24th. Rounding out the Seawolves in the top 50 was
Collin Gilstrap in 34th with a time of 24:48.4.
In addition to the main competition, four Seawolves also ran in the Open 8K, with
Alexander Medina (25:58.7) placing 45th in the field of over 600 runners. Following him in 85th and 88th were
Finn Burke (26:25.7) and
Collin McLaughlin (26:28.1), respectively.
Nick Kowal rounded out the group in 197th (27:25.3)
HIGHLIGHTS
- Green's time was four seconds ahead of his previous best of 24:21.7
- 49 out of 329 runners today finished with a time below 25 minutes, including Green, Gartner, and Gilstrap.
- Peter Fogarty (25:22.2, 77th), Percy Moser (25:26.1, 85th), and Ryan Hesler (25:26.6, 86th) were all in the top 100 today as well.
- Rounding out today's finishers were Gavin Catherwood (25:43.2, 115th) and Joseph Bertola (26:26.5, 211th).
