Goslar Finishes Top 5 as Women's XC Takes Second

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Stony Brook women's cross country opened the 2026 season with a second-place finish in the Stony Brook Season Opener on Saturday. The Seawolves totaled 56 points in the meet, trailing only Quinnipiac (31 points) while finishing comfortably ahead of Fordham (70 points) and Saced Heart (71 points).

Shaylen Goslar was the team's top finisher on the day, placing fifth with a time of 14:37.7 in the 4K. 

Also in the top 10 with her were Danielle Cirrito (eighth) and Kirsten Anastasio (10th). Three more Seawolves finished in the top-25, with Ava Carsley (14th), Mia Sandolo (20th) and Miranda Gatto (21st) rounding things out.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • This is the third time in the last four seasons the Seawolves have finished second in the Stony Brook Season Opener.
  • Goslar just edged out her time in last year's season opener by a single second to set a new PR.
  • Cirrito also PR'd today in the 4K by nearly 30 seconds with a time of 14:50.2.
  • Anastasio led all freshman across every team today with her time of 14:54.3, making her one of just 10 runners in the field of 50 to finish sub-15.
  • Camille Lichtenstein also made her collegiate debut today, posting a time of 15:54.7 and claiming 29th.
  • Sandolo greatly improved on her time last year as a freshman as she knocked off 12 seconds for a 15:32.1 finish today.

The Seawolves return to action on Friday, September 18 at 4:45 PM when they head to Haverford, Pa. for the Main Line Invitational, hosted by Haverford.
