Stony Brook, NY -- -
The Stony Brook athletic department kicks off its third annual P.A.W.S. Campaign (Providing Athletes With Scholarships) tomorrow night in the Atrium of the USB Sports Complex at 6:00 p.m.
The campaign will look to generate $700,000 in scholarship money for the coming year - its largest goal in history.
In it's short three-year history, the P.A.W.S. Campaign has raised over $1,000,000 for athletic scholarships. This unprecedented success enables our coaching staff to recruit talented athletes who are the best in their sport and allow them to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics while obtaining one of the greatest educations in the world. The growth of the support base has also increases tremendously. The number of individual contributors has more than quadrupled since the first year of the campaign and continues to rise each year.
The Seawolves Club was founded in 1998 to provide financial assistance for the University's intercollegiate athletic program. The club encompasses the annual five-week P.A.W.S. (Providing Athletes With Scholarships) Campaign and all existing booster clubs that support individual Stony Brook teams. The mission of the P.A.W.S. Campaign is to provide scholarships for young men and women who will represent the University and the Long Island community in competition across the nation.
Seawolves Club members have the opportunity to enjoy a vast array of benefits, such as priority point accumulation to attain better seat location for Seawolves football, basketball and lacrosse, invitations to the prestigious Hardwood Golf Outing as well as selected Seawolves merchandise. The Seawolves Club welcomes people who recognize the value of a successful athletic program to the University, its students and alumni and the community at large.
