Stony Brook University will host its annual Take Your Daughters to Work Day on April 27, 2001. Children of Stony Brook employees will visit various departments at Stony Brook to learn about different jobs and careers. As part of the day, the participants will visit the Sports Complex to learn about jobs in athletics.
Some of the day's activities include a kick-off breakfast with keynote speaker Trish Roberts, the head women's basketball coach. After a group photo, the children will come to the Complex for the Athletics Unlimited Session. They will visit the athletic training room and learn how to treat injuries. They will also learn about sports reporting and promotion and what it's like to have a career coaching for a Division I program.
Take Your Daughter to Work Day was established for children and the adults in their lives as a show of support for the continuing issues that girls and women face in society.
