Jed Hurt Named Assistant Director Of Athletic Media Relations

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Jed Hurt was named Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations at Stony Brook University, the university's athletic department announced. Hurt joins Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations Rob Emmerich and Assistant Director Shannon Hart.

Hurt spent the last two years as sports information assistant in the Virginia Tech Sports Information Department. Hurt served as the primary media contact for the men's and women's soccer programs in addition to extensive work with the Hokies' football program. Hurt was responsible for arranging both postgame interviews and weekly press conferences for Virginia Tech's nationally-ranked football team. In addition, Hurt wrote postgame press releases for men's and women's basketball and supplied the Big East Conference with Virginia Tech's statistical information.

Hurt also brings thorough writing and design experience, producing media guides for both men's and women's soccer at Virginia Tech. He also published feature articles on Virginia Tech athletes in Tech Gridiron, the athletic department's gameday football program, and consistently submitted stories to a local daily newspaper.

Hurt graduated from Virginia Tech in 2000 with a bachelor of arts degree in communications with a concentration on mass media.
