Stony Brook, N.Y. -
The University at Stony Brook will launch a brand-new athletic web site Wednesday, the Stony Brook Athletic Department announced Monday. The site is sponsored by FANSonly.
After last year's move to the Division I ranks, the Department felt it was necessary to upgrade the previous athletic web site. The athletic department and FANSonly collaborated on the design and content of the site.
"We are excited to have Stony Brook join the FANSonly network," said Jeff Cravens, FANSonly Network's Vice President and General Manager. "Goseawolves.org will be the complete destination for Stony Brook fans to follow their favorite Seawolves teams. The power of the internet has become a vital part of an athletic department's marketing, promotional and information efforts, and it is a credit to Stony Brook that they are taking full advantage of it."
The new site features homepages for each of Stony Brook's 19 sports. Each homepage includes a roster, athlete bio pages, a schedule and results page and action photos. In addition, the site includes pages for athletic administration, compliance, facilities, academic advising, and fan clubs. Fans will also be able to purchase tickets and Seawolves apparel on the site. The site will also include a link to the University at Stony Brook homepage.
Dean of Physical Education and Athletics, Dr. Richard Laskowski is excited about the new venture. "It is an exciting time for the athletic department and this partnership with FANSonly will help propel us into the 21st century," Laskowski said. "FANSonly is on the cutting edge of web site development and will keep our friends, fans and alumni in touch with the up-and-coming Stony Brook athletic program."
In addition to Stony Brook, Fansonly sponsors 74 athletic websites, including universities such as Florida State, Maryland, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Stanford.
The web address, www.goseawolves.org, will remain in effect until a new address is formed.
