Stony Brook Announces Staff Additions

Oct. 23, 2003

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Courtney Sanfelippo and Tim Eilbes have joined the athletic department staff at Stony Brook University, as Director of Athletics Jim Fiore announced. Sanfelippo will serve as an academic advisor for student athletes, while Eilbes was named assistant director of marketing.

Sanfelippo joins the Seawolves' academic support staff after spending the last three years at her alma mater, Seton Hall University. While completing her master's degree at the school, Sanfelippo served as a graduate assistant in Academic Support Services. In this role, she coordinated study hall for student-athletes, tutored in several areas including biology, chemistry, math and physics and facilitated the Pen Pal Project, a service that connects athletes with area youth.

Sanfelippo then became the Assistant Director for Academic Support where she provided academic and career advisement for over 60 student-athletes, served as a co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Mentor program and designed Life Skills workshops, while continuing to tutor in various subjects.

During her time at Seton Hall, Sanfelippo taught several courses as an adjunct professor in the mathematics department, adjunct faculty member in the College of Education and Human Services and mentor and instructor for Freshman Studies. She served as the Chair of Student Workshops and the Chair of Social Activities at new student orientation in 2002 and 2003, respectively, while also participating on the physical therapy/athletic training advisory committee.

A native of Fon du Lac, Wis., Sanfelippo earned her B.S. in biology, magna cum laude, in 2000, and her master's of secondary education, summa cum laude, in 2002.

Eilbes joins the staff at Stony Brook after spending the past five months as a sales and marketing associate with the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. While with the Bucks, Eilbes was responsible for full and partial season ticket sales and handling new corporate account ticket sales, as well as assisting with marketing and promotions for fan and community events.

Before his time with the Bucks, Eilbes spent just under a year as the marketing and promotions coordinator for women's basketball and the marketing and promotions assistant for olympic sports at Marquette University. At Marquette, he developed game-day scripts, promotions and events, served as a coordinator for the Future Fanatics kids' club and the Marquette Eagle's Edge fan club, coordinated group and season ticket sales campaigns and assisted with securing new sponsorships for women's basketball.

Prior to his arrival at Marquette, Eilbes was an event management assistant while completing his master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. There he aided in all areas of the athletic department while assisting with marketing and promotions campaigns for football and basketball.

Eilbes earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999 and his master's in sport administration from La Crosse in 2002.
