The Seawolves tied the game with 33.3 seconds left with a three-pointer from Munir, but Sherrod scored as the half ended and Rutgers took a 31-29 lead. Stony Brook came out strong in the second half and took its first lead of the game at 36-33 on Munir's three-pointer with 17:30 remaining. The Seawolves built the lead to 45-41 with 13:19 to go but the Scarlet Knights responded with an 8-0 run to retake the lead. Rutgers took the lead for good at 11:34 after Kent tipped in a missed free throw by Eugene Dabney. Stony Brook would not go away, however, and battled back to within 57-56 on another three by Munir with just over six minutes remaining. A clutch jumper by Greer gave the Scarlet Knights a 64-58 lead, but Munir responed with a running layup with 59 on the clock and the Seawolves trailed by only four. Stony Brook had two chances to get closer but a missed three by Josh Little (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and a turnover spelled doom for the Seawolves. Rutgers added three free throws for final 67-60 margin of victory. The Seawolves fell to 4-5 on the year and are back in action next Saturday when they return home to face Texas-Arlington. Tip-off is 2:00 p.m.

UMES Trips Seawolves In Overtime, 85-79 Princess Anne, Md. -- Chris Balliro's (Swampscott, Mass.) heroics in regulation went for naught as Stony Brook fell to Maryland-Eastern Shore in men's basketball last night, 85-79, in overtime. Balliro hit a desperation three-pointer from the right wing with 0.5 seconds on the clock to tie the score at 74 and send the game into overtime, but after taking a short-lived lead, Stony Brook couldn't find any offense. Trailing 67-60 with 1:30 remaining in regulation, the Seawolves began to chip away. Josh Little hit a three to pull Stony Brook to 73-71 with seven seconds left, and Thomas Trotter was immediately fouled. Trotter hit 1 of 2 free throws to set up Balliro's shot. Trotter opened the overtime session with a three-pointer, but Little answered with a three of his own to knot the score at 77 for Stony Brook. Leon Brisport gave Stony Brook its first lead since the first half on two free throws for a 79-77 lead with 3:01 remaining, but Stony Brook went cold from that point and failed to score another point. Maryland closed the game on an 8-0 run. Brisport led the Seawolves (4-4) in scoring again, with 20 points and eight rebounds and Balliro finished with 17 points. The Seawolves' Achilles' heel was its free-throw shooting, hitting only 14-for-23 from the line. Trotter led Eastern Shore (1-4) with 25 points and Sanyika Street had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
