Stony Brook University Permission to Contact Policy
Stony Brook University and its Department of Athletics will address each student-athlete's request for permission to contact another institution about the possibility of their transfer on a case-by-case basis.Â
In the event a Stony Brook University student-athlete has an interest in speaking with another college or university about transferring, he or should notify both their head coach, as well as the Compliance Office. In order for the student-athlete to receive permission to contact another institution, the student-athlete must submit a written request to the Compliance Office. Once the written request has been received by the Compliance Office, the Department of Athletics must grant or deny the request within seven business days. While a request to speak to other institutions does not constitute a voluntary withdrawal from the student-athlete's team, it will remain up the Department of Athletics to determine on a case-by-case basis, what services and benefits may be suspended or discontinued as a result of the student-athlete's demonstrated interest in transferring to another institution. Such services may include, but are not limited to, the Dubin Center, the Goldstein Center, the Sports Medicine Department, and the Equipment Room.   Â
