Kervin Morgan joined the athletics staff as an assistant coach for men’s and women’s track and field in March 2022.
Morgan comes to Stony Brook after three years as an assistant coach for men’s and women’s track and field at St. Francis College Brooklyn, where he oversaw men’s and women’s sprints, hurdles, and jumps. In 2021, Morgan guided the Terriers to five new school records: women’s high jump, men’s discus and shot put, men’s triple jump, and the men’s 4x400 meter relay.
Morgan attended LIU Brooklyn from 2013-15 where he was captain of the track team and received his Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Science.
Before coming to New York, Morgan attended South Plains College in Levelland, Texas where he received his Associate’s in Computer Science and was a member of the track and field team. Morgan won two NJCAA national titles with the Texans in 2009 and 2010.
An alternate for the 2008 Olympic Games, Morgan represented his home country of Trinidad and Tobago on various national stages. He won gold in the 4x400 meter relay and took home fifth in the 200 meter at the 2007 Pan American Junior Games. Morgan also competed in the 2005 World Youth Championships where he took home silver in the 1x2x3x4 relay. In addition, Morgan represented his home country at the 2007 World Championships, 2004 and 2006 Central American and Caribbean Junior Games, and at the Carifta Games from 2004-2008.
