Ranard Adkison joined the Stony Brook track and field coaching staff in January of 2024. In his role, Adkison oversees the sprints and hurdles events, bringing 16-plus years of coaching experience to the Seawolves staff.
Adkison previously served as the head men's and women's track and field coach at Talladega College in Alabama from 2021-23. Adkison guided his program to success at the conference and national level including five conference champions, 15 national championship qualifiers, 10 All-Americans, one national champion and numerous conference records, which were all firsts in school history.
Prior to his position at Talladega, Adkison coached at Sacred Heart University, Southwest Baptist University, Cal State University-Los Angeles and Texas A&M University-Commerce. He has coached multiple NCAA national champions, conference champions, All-Americans, and U.S. national championship qualifiers throughout his career.
Adkison is a former NCAA D1 track and field, having competed at Long Island University-Brooklyn in New York City. He earned seven first team all-conference awards and finished his career with multiple school and conference records.
While at LIU-Brooklyn, Adkison received a Bachelor of Art in Media Arts. He has since earned a Master of Science in Education from Southwest Baptist University and a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Adkison holds certifications from both USA Track and Field (USATF) and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
