Prior to joining the Stony Brook staff in August of 2017, Higgs spent four years as an assistant coach at Bradley University, where she served as the program's hitting coach.
In a shortened 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic, Higgs helped guide the Seawolves to a 10-4 record, including their best start since 1991. Stony Brook scored 62 runs under Higgs' guidance, ranking second in the conference. In the shortened season, Jourdin Hering hit for the cycle en route to a .431 batting average, which ranks fourth in a single season in program history. Melissa Rahrich hit .405, ranking seventh.
Higgs helped lead the Seawolves to a 32-19 record during the 2019 season, the program's best finish since 2014. She was also instrumental in helping Stony Brook lead the conference in batting average (.291). She also helped two Seawolves set program single-season records, as Melissa Rahrich (60 RBI) and Katelyn Corr (57 runs scored) both set high marks for a single campaign. The team hit 50 home runs in the 2019 season, the second most in program history.
Higgs also serves as the program's outfield coach. In 2019, the Seawolves had 11 outfield assists. Under Higgs' guidance, two outfielders earned All-Conference honors: Katelyn Corr (First Team) and Jourdin Hering (Second Team).
After joining the Stony Brook staff prior to the 2018 campaign, Higgs helped lead the Seawolves to a 25-22 (10-7 AE) record in 2018, going 2-2 in conference postseason play. Four Seawolves earned America East All-Conference awards in 2018: Melissa Rahrich - America East Player of the Year/First Team, Irene Rivera - First Team, Nicole McCarvill - Second Team/All-Rookie, Katelyn Corr - All-Academic.
Higgs comes to Stony Brook with seven years of coaching experience at the Division I level. While at Bradley, she was responsible for daily instruction, long and short-term vision and implementation of the outfield, infield, team defense, base running, hitting, slapping and catching. Higgs also served as the program's recruiting coordinator.

Prior to joining the Bradley staff in August of 2013, she spent two years at Army. During that span, the Black Knights went 72-47 (.605), tallied back-to-back 35-win seasons and reached the NCAA Tournament during the 2013 season. In 2011, Higgs served as an assistant coach at South Dakota State. The Antioch, Calif. native graduated from Stephen F. Austin in 2009, then spent the 2010 season as a Student Assistant for the Ladyjacks.

As a student-athlete, Higgs earned honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors as a sophomore at Stephen F. Austin. She hit leadoff and played center field for the Ladyjacks, leading the squad in runs (27) and stolen bases (19). During her junior season, Higgs hit .317 to help lead the Ladyjacks to the first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. She started in 155 games during her collegiate career.

Higgs earned bachelor's degrees in both business economics and operations management at Stephen F. Austin.
