Candi Letts

Candi Letts completed her first season at Stony Brook in 2020, playing a key role in guiding the America East-leading pitching staff to new heights.

Though the season was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Seawolves got off to their best start since 1991 and had a 10-4 overall record. JUCO transfer Dawn Bodrug tossed the program's first perfect game in eight years and finished second in the conference in ERA (0.74). Overall, the Seawolves led the America East in ERA (1.76), strikeouts (105), batting average against (.193) and were tied for the lead in shutouts (3). The 1.76 ERA was the 13th best in the nation.

Letts was introduced to Stony Brook prior to the 2020 season by head coach Megan T. Bryant.

"We are excited to welcome Candi Letts to Stony Brook University and our Seawolves family," Bryant said. "Candi brings tremendous knowledge, experience and professionalism to our Softball program.  She will be a teacher, leader and mentor for our student-athletes. I believe she has a great deal to offer our team, our pitchers and our coaching staff.  We look forward to working together to achieve our goals and to bring out the best in our student-athletes on and off the field."

Letts joins the Seawolves staff with 22 years of coaching experience at the Division I level. She comes to Long Island after three years as the head coach at Idaho State. She also served terms at Colorado State, where she finished the 1997 season ranked ninth in the nation in the final NFCA Coaches poll, and Ole Miss, where she coached All-SEC and All-American talent.

As a player at Creighton, she led the Bluejays to three consecutive Women's College World Series trips from the pitching circle.

The former Western Athletic Coach of the Year and West Region Coach of the Year comes to aid a Seawolves pitching staff that finished inside the Top 50 nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio (27th) and earned run average (41st).
