Kara Mupo returned to her roots on Long Island as an assistant coach on Joe Spallina's Stony Brook's women's lacrosse staff in the fall of 2017.
Mupo joined the Seawolves family after she spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at the College of William & Mary.
2018 was a record-breaking year for Stony Brook, who won 20 games for the second-straight season. The Seawolves earned the first No. 1 national ranking in program history, staying atop all three major lacrosse polls for 11-straight weeks heading into the 2018 postseason. The Seawolves finished the year leading the nation in six major Division I categories: points per game (29.28), scoring margin (+10.80), assists per game (11.23), shot percentage (.547), turnovers per game (12.00), and team defense (7.09 goals-allowed per contest).Â

A native of Rocky Point, N.Y., and a graduate of Rocky Point High School, Mupo spent her collegiate career as at Northwestern in which she helped the Wildcats capture a pair of NCAA national championships and guided the team to four consecutive Final Four appearances. Mupo served as a team captain at Northwestern during her senior season and finished her collegiate career with 186 points (136g, 50a).

The former member of the U.S. Women's National Team, Mupo also played professionally for the Philadelphia Force in 2016 and earned all-star status after she lead the league goals scored.
In addition to her impressive resume as a player, Mupo has assisted with numerous lacrosse camps across the country during the past few years. She has also provided one-on-one instruction as a personal lacrosse trainer.
Mupo earned a bachelor of science degree in human development and psychological services from NU in June 2014. She then received a master's degree in sports administration at Northwestern in 2015.
