Barbara-Jean Ercolino

Barbara Jean "BJ" Ercolino began at Stony Brook as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in September 2006. She currently serves as the women’s lacrosse athletic trainer. During her tenure she’s covered football, soccer, volleyball, and swimming and diving.  Ercolino also holds certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Graston trained, and Bloodflow Restriction Therapy.

Ercolino earned her bachelor's degree in athletic training from High Point University in May 2003. She completed her master's degree in educational psychology and physical education at the University of Arizona in May 2005. While at Arizona, Ercolino was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the sport club program.

Ercolino serves as the primary insurance coordinator for athletics and she is an adjunct instructor and an approved clinical instructor in Stony Brook's Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP).

Ercolino has been a NATABOC certified athletic trainer since 2003 and became a NYS certified athletic trainer in 2005. Prior to her arrival at Stony Brook, Ercolino was the head athletic trainer at Suffolk County Community College Brentwood Campus, serving as the primary athletic trainer for all of the Longhorns athletic teams.

Outside of Stony Brook, Ercolino has worked with USA Lacrosse, serving as head athletic trainer for the U19 women’s team earning a silver medal at the FIL World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2015. Most recently she worked as head athletic trainer for the women’s senior team earning a gold medal in the 2022 World Lacrosse Women’s World Championship in Towson, MD.

Ercolino is a Long Island native and currently resides in Selden with her wife Adrianna, son Theo, and their two dogs.
