Kevin Lopez

Kevin Lopez is an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach at Stony Brook University, where he oversees the men’s soccer and women’s tennis teams, while also assisting with the men’s basketball and football programs. He also works within the Sports Science Department alongside Vincent Cagliostro, where he is responsible for collecting and distributing performance data to the respective teams and coaching staffs he works with.

Lopez began his career at Stony Brook University with a 400-hour summer internship in athletic performance, working with football, men's basketball, and women's basketball. He will graduate in December 2024 with a Master of Science in Sports Science from Hofstra, with concentrations in exercise physiology and strength and conditioning.

Lopez earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with an exercise science concentration from Stony Brook in May 2023. Before transitioning to athletic performance, Kevin served as a combat medic in the United States Army for four years, stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. A native of Long Island, he attended Miller Place, where he was a member of the varsity football, wrestling and lacrosse teams.

Lopez is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and holds a Certified Sports Nutrition (CISSN) credential from the ISSN. He is also CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association. He resides on Long Island with his wife, Ashley, and their two sons, Brooks and Hudson.
