Becca Garner joined the Stony Brook Athletics Department in July 2023, as the Assistant Director of Broadcast Operations & Creative Services.
Garner joined Stony Brook after spending two years at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where she was the Graduate Assistant for Broadcast Operations. Garner helped transform Parkside Athletics by taking the lead on all video board content in the De Simone Arena and creating hype videos for volleyball, women's and men's basketball, and wrestling. She also created every video used to represent and tell the Parkside athletes’ stories. She also managed and scheduled freelance play-by-play commentators and interns. Garner assisted the revamp of UW Parkside’s broadcasts by implementing new equipment and growing their new partnership with FloSports. In May of 2023, Garner graduated with her Master’s in Sport Management.
Garner has worked for several baseball affiliates, including the Milwaukee Brewers where she was a member of their Scoreboard crew from April 2022-June 2023. Additionally, she joined the Omaha Stormchasers (AAA) SCTV crew in the summer of 2021. Prior to that, Garner was a video intern for the Lincoln Saltdogs (American Associations) in the summer of 2019.
A graduate of Hastings College (Neb.) where she got her B.A. in Digital Media in May 2020. At Hastings College, Garner served as HC Media's Live Production Director for three of her four years. The media team covered the NAIA Volleyball National Championships and NAIA DII Women's Basketball National Championships where she oversaw more than 15 ESPN3 productions. At Hastings College, Garner was a Dean's List member and a “Who's Who” award
recipient.
Centennial, Colo. native, Garner is an avid sports lover and spends her free time with her cat, Kirby.
