Ben Ilg

Ben Ilg joined Stony Brook Athletics as manager of events and operations in August 2019.

He oversees game operations for the department as well as assisting in the managing of all Stony Brook athletic facilities.

Ilg arrived at Stony Brook from Division II Assumption. In his role at Assumption, he oversaw all facets of facilities, equipment, game operations, scheduling, travel, preseason and other internal areas. Ilg spent his first two years as the head equipment/events manager.

A 2015 graduate of Nichols College, Ilg received a bachelor of science in business administration and sport management.

Prior to his time at Assumption, Ilg served as a media relations assistant at the University of Rhode Island for most of the 2015-16 academic year. He was the primary media contact for women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, and men’s and women’s cross country and track and field. He worked all home contests, helped manage the athletics website and created game programs and maintained stats for numerous sports.

Ilg previously interned in athletics at WPI, Holy Cross and Assumption. He served in several capacities for each athletic department and received experience in fields including game-day and event management, NCAA eligibility and compliance, and equipment and recreation.

Ilg currently resides in East Setauket with his wife Jessica and son Mason.
