Stony Brook Seawolves
Fox Updated Headshot

Evan Fox

Stony Brook baseball continues to build from within as head coach Jim Martin has officially elevated Evan Fox to assistant coach for the 2025-26 season. Fox, the Seawolves' all-time stolen base leader, spent last season on staff as a graduate assistant after an exceptional four-year playing career at Stony Brook.

"We're thrilled to promote Evan Fox to assistant coach," said Martin. "He's been a part of this program for five years now - first as a dynamic player and then as a dedicated graduate coach - and he's left his mark every step of the way. Evan brings passion, energy, and a deep understanding of what it means to wear the Seawolves uniform. I'm excited for what's ahead with him in this new role."

In his first season on the bench for Stony Brook, Fox helped the Seawolves to their highest batting average and on-base percentage since joining the CAA. Home run totals soared from 26 in 2024 to 69 in 2025, and the team also notched program highs in stolen bases and extra-base hits as a CAA member. The team also led the conference in double plays turned and ranked third in fielding percentage.

A native of upstate New York, Fox rewrote the record books during his time on the field. He posted a .298 career batting average with 203 hits, 166 runs scored, and a program-best 108 stolen bases across 182 games. His base-stealing prowess became his trademark, breaking Travis Jankowski's single-season stolen base record in 2022 with 39 swipes.

Fox burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2021, earning America East All-Rookie honors while helping the Seawolves to back-to-back regular season titles in 2021 and 2022. He started 43 games as a rookie and finished among the national leaders in stolen bases by a freshman. He followed that with a standout sophomore campaign, hitting .322 and reaching base in 41 of 46 games.

His junior year in 2023 was one of the best ever by a Stony Brook leadoff hitter. Fox earned All-CAA First Team honors, led the team with a .333 average and .429 OBP, and ranked second in the country with 57 stolen bases. He started the season on fire, reaching base in 31 straight games and finishing the year safely aboard in 49 of 50 contests.

In his final season in 2024, Fox again earned All-CAA recognition, finishing among the team leaders in nearly every offensive category, including 44 hits, 24 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases. He also recorded the Seawolves' longest hitting streak of the year, hitting safely in 11 consecutive games.

Fox departs as one of the most electric players in program history. He holds the all-time stolen base record (108), ranks second in career runs (166), and sits inside the top 10 in doubles (45) and triples (9).
