Jason Fautas

Jason Fautas joined Stony Brook Athletics as the Assistant Director of Compliance in October 2024.

Fautas came to Stony Brook after serving most recently as the Director of Athletics at Thiel College since the fall of 2022. Prior to this role, he spent a decade at Walsh University, where he held multiple positions including Interim Vice President of Athletics/Athletic Director, Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Associate Director of Athletics, and Assistant Director of Athletics - Director of Compliance.

With 17 years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, Fautas began his career coaching men’s lacrosse at his alma mater, Hartwick College, for three seasons. He then served as the assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Lafayette College for two seasons before joining Walsh University as the head coach for two seasons.

Throughout his career in athletic administration, he has been actively involved with various conference committees and professional organizations, including the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Ethics and Eligibility and Championship committees, the National Association for Athletic Compliance, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, National Association of Athletic Development Directors, and the Business of Small College Athletics Leadership Academy.

Originally from Holtsville, New York, Fautas holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Hartwick College and a master’s degree in sports leadership from Northeastern University.
