Petrowski joins the Seawolves in July of 2025 after a strong two-year run as pitching coach at the University of North Florida, where he elevated the Ospreys on the mound, in the classroom, and in postseason play.
"We're excited to welcome Mike as our new Associate Head Coach. He's had proven success at the Division I level, leading pitching staffs to multiple championships and NCAA Regionals," said coach Martin. "We're looking forward to having him back in the Northeast to help us win in the CAA."
In his first season at UNF in 2024, Petrowski guided the Ospreys to 21 wins while leading one of the top pitching turnarounds in the ASUN. His staff finished the year with the third-best ERA in the conference, recorded the most shutouts, and allowed the fewest base hits. One pitcher earned All-ASUN recognition for his performance that season, and five were named to the Academic CSC Team.
In 2025, North Florida continued to build under Petrowski's direction, earning 27 wins and qualifying for the ASUN Conference Tournament as the No. 4 seed in the ASUN Graphite Division. The Ospreys posted marquee victories over Notre Dame and UCF and pushed national powers Florida and South Carolina in narrow one-run battles. Four players earned All-ASUN honors, two were named to the ASUN All-Rookie Team, and five again landed on the Academic CSC Team.
Before arriving in Jacksonville, Petrowski spent five seasons as the pitching coach at his alma mater, Rider University. During his time in Lawrenceville, he helped lead the Broncs to two NCAA Tournament appearances (2021 and 2023) and a pair of MAAC Championships. Rider set the program's single-season strikeout record in consecutive years, totaling 432 in 2022 and 423 in 2023.
Petrowski's 2023 staff ranked 22nd in the nation in ERA and produced multiple high-impact arms, including All-American closer Dan Kirwin. In 2021, Rider's pitching made a dramatic jump, cutting the team ERA by nearly two full runs (4.54), ranking 71st nationally and leading the team to its first MAAC Tournament title since 2010 after being picked eighth in the preseason poll.
In addition to player development, Petrowski played a significant role in recruiting key contributors including tournament MVP Jordan Erbe, All-MAAC performers Sean McGeehan and Cal Stalzer, and weekend starter Frank Doelling. Graduate left-hander Pete Soporowski also earned All-MAAC Second Team honors under his direction.
His resume includes summer ball success, leading the Trenton Thunder's MLB Draft League pitching staff to a league-best 4.27 ERA and helping 11 pitchers sign with affiliated organizations and four more with independent clubs. Trenton went on to win the inaugural league title with Petrowski at the helm of its staff.
Petrowski previously served as head coach at Rowan College at Burlington County, where he helped lead the program to the Region 19 Tournament and posted a nation-leading 2.86 team ERA in NJCAA Division II. He also coached at Hamilton West and Nottingham High Schools in New Jersey, helping both programs win sectional championships.
A 2009 graduate of Rider, Petrowski won a MAAC Championship as both a player (2008) and coach (2021).
