Sierra Bastien

Head coach Joy McCorvey appointed Sierra Bastien as the Seawolves' new Director of Basketball Operations on May 31, 2024. Bastien joins the Stony Brook staff after stops at William & Mary, Colby College, Rider University and with the New York Liberty.

A native of Maplewood, N.J., Bastien joins the Stony Brook family after serving as the Executive Assistant to Keia Clarke, the CEO of the New York Liberty since July of 2022. With the Liberty, Bastien was in charge of travel arrangements, managing and setting up meetings for New York Liberty dedicated staff, executing team projects, building relationships with stakeholders internally and externally, and other leadership responsibilities for the organization.

Bastien is no stranger to the CAA after spending the 2021-22 season as the Director of Basketball Operations at William & Mary. During her time with the Tribe, Bastien managed the team's operating budget, organized the team's travel arrangements, scheduled academic meetings and study hall hours, recruited and supervised student team managers, assisted with on-campus recruiting efforts and other administrative duties. She helped the Tribe to a No. 7 seed in the CAA Tournament, ultimately falling in the CAA Quarterfinals to Delaware. She also helped Sydney Wagner earn Second Team All-CAA honors.

Prior to William & Mary, Bastien spent the 2020-21 season at Colby College in Maine as an associate head coach. Before the season was cut short due to COVID-19, Bastien helped the team to a 3-3 record with victories over Southern Maine and Bates College. During her time with the Mules, Bastien managed game plans and ran individual skill sessions with different players, also helping with recruiting needs and overall player development.

A graduate of Rider, Bastien rejoined her alma mater in August of 2017 as the Director of Basketball Operations after serving as a student manager while attending Rider. During her time at Rider, Bastien organized the team's travel arrangements, creating a travel itinerary, managing the team's budget, recruited and supervised student managers, oversaw on-campus recruiting activities, and helped facilitate all elite college level camps. She contributed to the Broncs' 2019-2020 regular season title and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. During the 2018-2019 season at Rider, the Broncos earned the league's automatic bid to the WNIT. It marked the second time in program history and the second time in three years that the team appeared in the WNIT.

In the summer of 2017 before joining the Rider women's basketball staff, she served as a recruiting coordinator for The Hoop Group. During her time there, Bastien recruited prospective players to attend camp programs, communicated with parents, campers, and camp staffers, completed purchase transactions for camps through the organization's database, updated and edited the Hoop Group's online database and coordinated direct mailings of camp informational packets.

As an undergraduate with the Broncs, she was the head manager for the women's basketball team. She oversaw other managers' daily duties, created schedules for managers and assistant coaches, documented player statistics for each game, ran field shooting chart, filmed, generated, and uploaded DVD recordings of team, practices and games, was responsible for away game team equipment, assisted in the creation of opposing team scouts and reviewed and analyzed practice and game film.

Bastien earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Sports Management from Rider University in 2017.
