The Stony Brook women's swimming and diving team (1-0) won its first dual meet of the season, defeating Sacred Heart 118-112 on Saturday afternoon.
Freshmen Laura Thorson and Starlyn Rupinski each won two events to pace Stony Brook. Thorson won both the 100 free (57.26) and the 50 free (26.10), while Rupinski was victorious in the 200 free (2:00.45) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.53).
Freshman Lyndsy Sudol also won in her collegiate debut, finishing first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:14.60.
The 200 free relay team of sophomore Sarah Doret, Thorson, sophomore Kris Yturraspe and Rupinski placed first in 1:44.86.
Sophomore diver Kristi Schubert also made a big contribution to Stony Brook's win, winning on both the one- and three-meter boards.
The Seawolves return to the pool when they travel to West Point on Oct. 24.
