Swim & Dive Breaks Another Two Program Records at Final Day of 2026 CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. - Stony Brook swimming & diving closed out the 2026 CAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday, breaking another two program records, and finishing sixth overall at this year's events.

The Seawolves began Saturday with another strong showing in the day's prelim rounds, seeing 11 different members of the Stony Brook roster secure spots in Saturday night's finals session.

In the finals, Stony Brook broke another two program records, bringing its total to five across competition at this year's championships. The first of the night was broken by Alanna DePinto in the 100-yard freestyle. Her 50.95 record time came off the heels of a fourth-place finish in the event's consolation finals and scored 15 points for the Seawolves. In the final event of the night, Stony Brook wrapped things up with a bang with a record-breaking performance in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Francesca Baber, Carson Kien, Michelle Vu, and DePinto set a new record with a time of 3:26.56, finishing sixth and scoring 48 team points.

Baber recorded a 14th-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle (17:23.50), scoring 13 points. Meredith Yuhasz placed 20th overall in the event (17:40.33) and scored five points. Rounding out the Seawolves in the 1650 was Mia Saavedra, finishing in 22nd (18:04.22), earning three team points for her efforts.

Sara Baxter (2:05.91) and Brenna Mowrey (2:08.89) swam in the 200-yard backstroke bonus finals, finishing in seventh and eighth, respectively, and scoring three team points between the two of them.

Pelagia Chazov finished third in the 200-yard breaststroke bonus finals with a time of 2:20.56, which scored Stony Brook six points. Aili Talcott placed sixth in the event (2:22.69), scoring three points with her performance.

Vu recorded a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly consolation finals with a time of 2:05.26, scoring 17 points for Stony Brook. Elaine Liu finished right behind in her third (2:05.49), scoring 16 points. Hazel Alejos placed eighth in the event (2:10.29), scoring 11 points for the Seawolves.

Kien finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly bonus finals (2:10.29), scoring 4 points for her efforts.

Mykayla Lavery placed eighth in the finals of the 1-meter dive (226.75), scoring 22 points for Stony Brook. Natalia Chornomidza took third in the 1-meter consolation finals (222.45), scoring 16 points.
