Swim & Dive Shatter Three Program Records During Day Three of 2026 CAA Championships

Hampton, Va. - Stony Brook swimming & diving had itself a day for the record books during day three of the 2026 CAA Swimming & Diving Championships, as it shattered three program records across three swimming events.

The day started in a strong fashion, with 10 seawolves punching their tickets to Friday finals after numerous solid swims in the morning prelims. Building off their momentum from prelims, the Seawolves set three new program records during the finals session in the 400 individual medley, 100-yard breaststroke, and the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The first record-breaking performance was by a freshman, Elaine Liu, who set a new program record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.64, winning the bonus finals of the event and scoring nine points for Stony Brook.

Shortly after that, Alanna DePinto rebroke her own program record in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.64). Her time earned second place in the consolation finals, scoring 17 points.

The third record broken came in the 200-yard freestyle relay after Francesca Baber, Carson Kien, Michelle Vu, and DePinto finished sixth in the finals with a solid time of 1:34.14, scoring 48 team points.

In the consolation finals of the 100-yard butterfly, Vu placed third (54.94) and scored 16 points. Pelagia Chazov participated in the bonus finals of the 100-yard butterfly (57.15), where she finished seventh and scored two team points. Right below her in eighth was Kunzang Sharchitsang (57.17), who scored a point for the Seawolves.

Carson Kien earned 11 points for Stony Brook with an eighth-place finish in the 400 IM consolation finals with her time of 4:34.49. Aili Talcott swam in the bonus finals of the event, finishing seventh (4:34.95), scoring two team points in the process.

Baber placed second in the consolation finals of the 200-yard freestyle. Her time of 1:51.19 earned Stony Brook 17 points.

Chazov picked up a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke consolation finals with a clocking of 1:04.94, good for 15 team points. Talcott also swam in the bonus finals of the 100-yard breaststroke, where she placed fourth (1:05.75), scoring five points for the Seawolves.

Brenna Mowrey notched a third-place finish in the bonus finals of the 100-yard backstroke. She finished the event in  57.41 and scored six team points. Sara Baxter also swam in the bonus finals, finishing seventh with a time of 58.03, helping earn two points for Stony Brook.
