O'Connor, Fields Guide Seawolves Past Quinnipiac

Stony Brook, NY -- - Jaime O'Connor had 11 digs and seven kills helping Stony Brook to a 15-6, 15-12, 10-15, 15-5 win over Quinnipiac Sunday afternoon at the USB Sports Complex. The Seawolves (7-12) won both matches with Quinnipiac (4-13) this season.

The Seawolves jumped out to a 9-1 lead in game one thanks to three kills by freshman Rachel Goldsmith - who ended up with a team-high 13 in the match. Four straight attack errors by Quinnipiac allowed the Seawolves to increase the lead to 13-5 before Goldsmith served out the game.

Quinnipiac opened a 7-1 lead in game two before the Seawolves stormed back for 11 of the next 16 points to tie the game at 12-12. Susanne Westing served out the game with three straight points including a service ace to give the Pack a 15-12 win.

Stony Brook led 9-5 in game three, but committed three straight attack errors to allow the Braves to tie the game at 10-10. The Braves won the next five points and the game led by Heather Wollyung's service ace and three attack errors by the Seawolves.

Down 3-1 in game four, Stony Brook went on a 10-0 run led by a pair of Goldsmith kills, one kill each from Debra Falkenberg and Katie McCabe and three attack errors by Quinnipiac.

Quinnipiac committed 15 service errors in the match.

Wollyung collected 18 kills, six service aces and had a pair of solo blocks to lead the Braves.

Freshman setter Alison Fields had 35 assists and nine digs to lead the Seawolves who travel to the Albany Invitational next weekend.
