Despite setting a meet record and finishing one-two in the women's diving events, the Stony Brook swimming and diving team fell to Army on Tuesday. The women were defeated 128-84, while the men fell by a score of 156-75.
Starlyn Rupinski led the women with two first-place finishes. The freshman won the 200 free with a time of 1:59.19, and set a meet record in the 500 free with her time of 5:18.52.
Divers Kristi Schubert and Erin Byrnes finished first and second, respectively, on the one-meter board. The two divers flip-flopped in the three-meter competition as Byrnes placed first and Schubert finished second.
For the men, Albert Koyfman won the 100 free with a time of 49.52. Junior Igor Voloshin placed first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.84.
The women fall to 1-1 in dual meets, while the men open their season with the loss.
The men's team returns to action on Saturday when they host Boston College at 1 p.m. The women's team next sees action on Nov. 4 when it travels to St. Peter's.
