Box Score

New York, N.Y. - Columbia used two penalty kicks and an own goal by Stony Brook to post a 3-0 victory in Division I men's soccer action Wednesday evening in upper Manhattan.

Things got off to a bad start right away for Stony Brook as the Seawolves were whistled for a foul inside the penalty box 10:43 into the game. The Lions' Leslie Fitzpatrick netted the penalty kick opportunity and Columbia led 1-0.

The Lions held the 1-0 advantage into halftime but wasted no time in extending the lead to 2-0 early in the second stanza. Thirty seconds into the half, a scramble in the Stony Brook end saw the ball glance off a Seawolves defender and into the SB goal.

Fitzpatrick added another penalty kick in the 80th minute to extend CU's lead to 3-0.

Dan Ferrin made two saves in a losing effort as Stony Brook falls to 12-3-2.

The Seawolves have a chance to close out the 2000 campaign on a positive note Saturday afternoon when they play host to Atlantic Soccer Conference rival Hartwick at 2:00 p.m.
