LoParrino's 22 Points Paces Seawolves Over Monmouth, 75-59

Stony Brook, NY -- - Theresa LoParrino scored nine points during a 22-8 run in the first half and finished with 22 in leading Stony Brook (7-2) to a 75-59 win over Monmouth (3-4) Wednesday night at the USB Sports Complex. LoParrino was one of four players in double figures as Maggie Triggs scored a career-high 19 points, Erika Shipley had 11 and Sherry Jordan added 10 to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds.

With the game tied at 11-11 at the 8:13 mark of the first half, the Seawolves scored 22 of the last 26 points to take a 33-19 lead into the locker room. LoParrino keyed the run with nine points off the bench. Monmouth shot just 22% in the first half and committed 14 turnovers.

Kelli Cofield's jumper at the 19:24 mark of the second half built the lead to 35-20. The Hawks got as close to eight points at 43-35 with 11:02 left on a 6-0 run highlighted by Michele Cappodona's pair of layups. The Seawolves answered with a three-pointer by Triggs and never allowed the Hawks to further threaten the lead. LoParrino's jumper with 3:52 left gave the Seawolves their largest lead of the night at 66-46.

Cappodona led the Hawks effort with 28 points - 18 coming in the second half. She also led the team in rebounding with eight.

Stony Brook has now won both meetings with the Hawks in the series.

The Seawolves shot 52% in the second half. Stony Brook heads to Mississippi State to take on Howard at the MSU Tournament on Saturday.
