HARTFORD, CT -- - Stony Brook opened the 2000 volleyball campaign Saturday afternoon by falling to Hartford, 15-9, 15-9, 15-2. It was the first match under new head coach Deborah Matejka.

Stony Brook took an early 2-0 lead in game 2, but Hartford countered with nine of the match's next 11 points to take a 9-4 lead and eventually won the game. Hartford led from start to finish in game three and avenged a 3-0 loss in the teams' only other meeting last season.
