LORETTO, Pa. (AP) - John Phelan and Eric Hatkewitz scored two touchdowns on
interception returns within 30 seconds of each other as Stony Brook beat St.
Francis Saturday 60-7.
Stony Brook took advantage of seven turnovers by St. Francis (0-4, 0-2 in
Northeast Conference) to score its most points since 1998. Stony Brook (2-1,
1-1) intercepted St. Francis quarterbacks five times in all, including the two
returns in the third quarter.
Brian Stanley threw three touchdowns to give Stony Brook a 25-0 advantage by
halftime. With 14:32 remaining in the third, Phelan returned an interception 29
yards for a touchdown. Then, with 14:19 remaining in the third, Hatkewitz
scored again on an interception return with a 34-yard run.
St. Francis' only touchdown came on a 7-yard pass from Randy White to Matt
Rychlicki with 14:52 remaining in the fourth quarter.
