The Stony Brook swimming and diving team split with Providence on Saturday afternoon, as the men (1-1) recorded a 134-90 victory while the women's team (0-3) fell by a score of 133-110.
For the men, it was Tim Larkin and Igor Voloshin leading the way with two individual victories apiece. Larkin won both the 400 free (4:26.93) and 800 free (9:16.60), while Voloshin placed first in the 200 IM (2:20.38) and the 100 breast (1:11.67). Vasily Rodin recorded a win in the 100 butterfly (1:02.82) while Ted Freeborn won the 100 free (57.12).
The 400 medley relay team of Jason Ferrara, Igor Voloshin, Vasiliy Rodin and Ted Freeborn also placed first with a time of 4:13.49.
On the women's side, freshmen Jessica Claud and Alison Porteus continue to be record-breakers, as each set a new school record in as many meets so far this season. Claud's time of 1:01.15 in the 100 free set a new Stony Brook record and was good for first place, while Porteus accomplished the same feat in the 100 breast (1:15.49). In addition, Michelle Miller won the 100 fly (1:07.16), and divers Kristi Schubert and Erin Byrnes posted victories in one-meter diving events.
The 400 medley relay team of Claud, Porteus, Miller and Starlyn Rupinski preserved its undefeated record this season, winning the event for the third straight meet. with a time of 4:38.25
The Seawolves return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 14, when they face Fordham on the road.
